Since 1990 The Bellingen Environment Centre Inc. (BEC) has presented The Bellingen Plant Fair, with a focus on supporting local growers and getting more plants in our earth. Both organisations being not-for-profit, all monies from the Bellingen Plant Fair go back into the event and support the vital work of the Bellingen Environment Centre Inc.
With over 100 diverse plants stalls, The Bellingen Plant Fair is held bi-annually on the 2nd Saturday of September (spring) and March (autumn). The popular, stellar event attracts thousands of visitors from near and far, and gives a big boost to local businesses on Plant Fair day.
Special thanks is given to the good people who have coordinated the Plant Fair in the past. Their passion and dedication have given the event a life of its own. A big thanks goes to Colin Broadfoot, Lesley Green, Carla Bower, and Clayton Colmer who from 2017, generously contributed, upgraded systems and held it together during the crazy covid, fires and floods that challenged everyone.
We especially acknowledge the amazing strength and determination of our plant growers who have overcome many obstacles over the years. These hardworking, resilient and progressive souls are essential to our community, and deserve our support, and gratitute, as prices rise, and we strive towards plant resilience.
The Bellingen Plant Fair brings people together. Growers and patrons positively engage and share valuable information, educating our community on healthy soil and plants, and how to make a positive difference in our envirinment.
Local community organistaions such as, Landcare, Northbank Community Garden, Bellingen Seed Savers, and Biodynamic Agriculture Australia will be on hand to answer questions and inspire you further in your gardening endeavours and desires.
The Bellingen Plant Fair continues to grow strong through the passion and dedication of many good people (past and present). These include our faithful sponsors, Kombu Wholefoods and Hearthfire Bakery, our wonderful plant growers and awesome volunteers – it’s collaboration and celebration at its finest.
